The landscape of college football betting is going to be changing quite soon and the probabilities at the sportsbook will be impacted.

Nebraska stated Friday that they are relocating to the Big 10 which will most likely mean the end of the Big 12 conference. Many of Nebraska’s long-time competitors versus the probabilities at the Internet sports book will probably be going to the Pac-10 so college football is going to seem a lot different after the impending season.

A portion of Nebraska’s change is monetarily inspired. Bigger paychecks will be coming because of the switch. Nebraska estimates to double its percentage of conference income, from about $10 million in the Big 12 to about $20 million in the Big 10, thanks generally to bigger television contracts and the in-house Big 10 network.

Colorado, a fellow Big 12 member, stated it would be relocating to the Pac-10 on Thursday. Reports became available that Missouri was also arranging to abandon the Big 12. For Nebraska, the writing was on the wall, and they had to think about a change to a more stable conference.

With reports leaking out about Nebraska’s change, it didn’t exactly come as a surprise when they made the official announcement on Friday. Missouri may be going after Nebraska to the Big 10 but that hasn’t yet been stated. If the Big 10 chooses not to give them an invitation, Missouri could end up out in the cold. The Tigers may end up in the Mountain West when the dust settles. Missouri doesn’t have a strong association with the Big 12 as it is and the most recent reports have the Big 10 discussing whether or not they want to include the Tigers.

Other schools are anticipated to follow suit now with the news that Nebraska is leaving the Big 12. The Pac-10 is supposed to offer six schools membership into the conference and those other schools are Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. The Big 10 could also be incorporating schools along with Nebraska. The Big 10 is waiting for a determination from Notre Dame. The only 2 teams that would be joining would be Notre Dame and Nebraska if the Irish accept an invitation to join the conference.

The issue will be what happens to the Big 12. Many trust that the conference is finished after this season. Nebraska’s change to the Big 10 most likely signals the end of the Big 12 as a conference. It’s now likely that the Pac-10 will become a big conference with 16 teams and the Big 10 may follow suit by offering invites to squads from the Big East. The landscape of college football is definitely changing and this will likely be the last season where you are able to count on rivalry games in the Big 12 staying the same.

Longhorns athletic director DeLoss Dodds has said he wants to keep the Big 12 together. The lynchpin to the Big 12’s survival is regarded as to be Texas. University of Texas regents will convene next week to decide whether or not the Longhorns will remain in the fast-disintegrating Big 12 or switch to a different conference.
