The Jan 15 – Texans vs Ravens game has the opportunity to be a spectacular and intriguing game from beginning to end, or a severe disappointment. The reason: both teams have appeared amazing occasionally this season and totally awful at others.

The Texans have a justification for their sometimes frustrating play, as the team has been weighed down by accidents all season. First, their all-pro wide acquire Andre Johnson was lost with a hamstring injury. As if this setback to their offense wasn’t significant enough, they then lost their starting quarterback, Matt Schaub. Then they went on to lose their second chain quarterback, Matt Leingart, to injury. This placed rookie T.J. Yates into the starting duty. Although Yates has performed admirably to date, it’s yet to be seen how he can fare against the vicious Ravens’ defense. The Texans struggle through these accidents to a 10-6 record, but stumbled into the playoffs as they lost their last 3 competitions of the season.

Although the Ravens have appeared extraordinary generally speaking this season, they have come up short at baffling times. After beating Houston 29-14 earlier in the year, they lost their next game to sad Jacksonville as they performed some of the worst type of offensive football displayed by any team this season. Then, after beating Pittsburgh 23-20, they lost their following game to Seattle. So, while it would look Baltimore has the more healthy, more total team, that’s presuming the Baltimore who won those huge competitions this year turns up.
Odds makers are counting on that. Baltimore is a 7.5 fave at home. Whilst the Texans have a gritty defense themselves, the question is still whether or not Houston’s rookie quarterback can play nicely under the stress of a divisional playoff game in a inhospitable atmosphere. As the Ravens are more experienced and playing at home, they’ve got the upper hand.
